ZX Spectrum 128 chess puzzles

ChessZX is a project for ZX Spectrum 128 (wiki). Highly compressed 8416 computer generated chess puzzles M1,M2,M3. This .SNA file , .TAP file (download) snapshot is loadable on emulators Speccy, EmuZWin, ZXSpin, others. The assembler code has been compiled on SjASMPlus. User can redefine cursor keys, Kempston joystick . No mouse, no floppy disk. Code sources available on GitHub. JsSpeccy emulator online and fast, or js-dos speccy

Gen-mates

There are generated chess checkmate positions
(as result of software development, testing, etc., generator tool CM various versions, with source and binaries for windows/linux)

- only one first move solution
- count of pieces minimal for each puzzle case

1-move 82005 mate positions - M1 zipped pgn-file
2-move 49504 mate positions - M2 zipped pgn-file
3-move 23733 mate positions - M3 zipped pgn-file
4-move mate only 363 positions - M4 zipped pgn-file or brow-160

I like SmallBASIC. So, here is a small chess .BAS program: .bas

c64 chess project

Commodore 64 is a hit-console of 80s.

c64hess.d64   - app for solving very known collection of chess puzzles (book) by  László Polgár in 1994. The player checkmates king in 1,2 or 3 moves by using cursor keys and collects +bonus points. 4440 puzzles collection is large enough for good chess training course.

jsC64hess is an online emulated javascript version of puzzles, uses http://c64emulator.111mb.de emulator.
Another online version, thanks to http://vice.janicek.co, but 3Mb large and not so fast, anyway works.

How to play: install emulator for c64; download .d64 floppy image file; open in emulator

Emulators:  VICE (the most advanced);  CCS65 (has video recording inside);  Hyper64 (the fastest c64 implementation).

Incredible compiler cc65 makes 8-bit coding easy in high c-level for this "8-bit calculator" device, no need to write asm-code. Project One helps on pictures, LuaJIT and lua-code good for data preparation, c1541 tool created the floppy disk images.

This new chess software replays World Chess Championship 2014 games between Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand.

Use atari emulator (Altirra, Atari800win, Atari800), open ChessAtr.xex executable object file.

Compiled on MADS 8-bit assembler for CPU 6502.
